SSS 2018-2019: US-Iran Strategic Competition

Cohosted with the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and the The Public Interest Fellowship, the 2018-2019 Security and Strategy Seminar (SSS) was an in-depth look into the relationship between America and Iran since 1953, consisting of 13 sessions from October 2018 to June 2019 in Washington, DC.

Over the course of those sessions, taught by guest instructors from public policy think tanks and academia, fellows gained a clear understanding of the present challenges America faces in its dealings with Iran through an extended inquiry into the roots of the current adversarial relationship, with particular focus devoted throughout the course to the tactics and strategies employed by Washington policymakers at various moments of crisis.

Drawing from a competitive pool of applicants, our 20 inaugural Security and Strategy Seminar fellows were rising leaders in foreign policy and national security who hail from think tanks, the private sector, and various government agencies.

The Security and Strategy Seminar was a great forum for constructive foreign policy debate and helped me develop my understanding of regional issues that are important to my work.”
