STUDENT CHAPTERS

Our student-led chapters serve as the national foundation of our programming. They bring an alternative point of view on college campuses by hosting debates between our speakers, who are some of our nation’s most distinguished scholars and practitioners, and local professors on critical issues in foreign policy, national security, and economic statecraft. Our chapters also hold student group discussions on critical U.S. foreign policy issues and organize reading series on influential books in the history of American statecraft.

Host Distinguished scholars and Practioners

Our debates and moderated discussions aim to provide students with an understanding of what American leadership has achieved and why it's worth defending. They address complex issues from multiple perspectives with a goal to foster respect for different opinions and promote critical thinking in the next generation of leaders.

Lead Group Discussions on Key U.S Foreign Policy Issues

Group discussions offer a unique forum for students to engage in serious conversation on ideas discovered in the classroom. To support group discussions, the AHS national office highlights a weekly group discussion topic in its Hamilton Dispatch. These topics are complemented with brief analysis, relevant articles, and questions for discussion.

Organize Reading Series & War Games

AHS supports chapters' efforts to lead reading series on influential books in the history of American statecraft. -Upon approval of a proposed plan, chapters receive complimentary copies of the book selected for their series. -While AHS provides a list of suggested titles on its library page, chapters may propose any significant work in the study of foreign, defense, and economic statecraft.
