The Alexander Hamilton Society (AHS) is pleased to announce that General (Ret.) David H. Petraeus has joined its Board of Advisors. Currently the Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, General Petraeus is one of the most decorated and prominent leaders of our time. He is a former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and previously commanded American and coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Founded in 2010, AHS is a non-profit, non-partisan, national organization that fosters constructive debate on basic principles and contemporary issues in American foreign, economic, and national security policy. Alexander Hamilton Society members share a conviction, rooted in the history of the last century, that the world is a better, safer, and more prosperous place when the United States is willing and able to lead.

“We are honored to have General Petraeus join us in fulfilling our ever-vital mission of identifying, educating, and launching young men and women who think seriously about our nation’s place in the world and about how to better promote and defend our interests and values,” said AHS President and Princeton University Professor Aaron Friedberg. “General Petraeus—warrior, scholar, practitioner, and patriot—embodies so much of what the Alexander Hamilton Society stands for and we are fortunate to have him on board,” said AHS Executive Director Gabriel Scheinmann. “At a time of rising challenges to the American-led liberal order across several continents, we are grateful for General Petraeus’s deep wisdom and unmatched experience as we build a new generation of leaders who believe that the study of American history and national security is central to our country’s future.”
