We are Hiring a Program Director/Manager!

AHS is seeking to hire a full-time Program Director or Manager (title and compensation dependent on experience) to manage its national network of campus chapters and growing suite of national programs in Washington, D.C. 

Founded in 2010, AHS is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, national organization that seeks to identify, educate, and launch young men and women into foreign policy and national security careers imbued with the Hamiltonian perspective of strong and principled American leadership in global affairs. Rooted in the history of the last century, Hamiltonians are united by a deep conviction that the world is a better, safer, and more prosperous place when the United States is willing and able to lead. Primarily through engaging in debate, our programming is critical to the intellectual and professional development of a new generation of American leaders. We have established student-run chapters at over 60 top American colleges and universities as well as professional chapters in New York and Washington, D.C. Our affiliates and alumni have gone on to serve in the highest levels of government and industry.

Responsibilities

The Program Director/Manager will:

·      Manage AHS’s National Network of Campus Chapters

o   Oversee all chapter event planning through regular correspondence with student leaders, faculty advisers, and speaker network;

o   Execute chapter growth strategy and recruit new faculty and students;

o   Track and process all chapter-related quantitative and qualitative data, budgets, and reimbursement system;

o   Manage complex relationships with faculty, students, and universities.

·      Lead AHS’s National Student Conferences and Institutes

o   Design content and curriculum, manage, and execute three large student conferences and educational institutes;

o   Coordinate and execute relevant contracts and agreements, arrange for required facilities and services, and process student applications and registrations;

o   Promote and recruit for programs.

·      Oversee AHS’s Office of Career Services

o   Build relationships with likeminded institutions, offices, and people;

o   Curate job and internship lists for relevant opportunities;

o   Provide resume, cover letter, and security clearance assistance;

o   Facilitate mentorship and networking opportunities within the AHS network.

·      Manage AHS’s Campus Communications

o   Oversee preparation of weekly student newsletter;

o   Update AHS website and social media platforms with relevant campus event and information 

He/she will report to and work in close coordination with the Executive Director. He/she will also directly oversee a program assistant and interns. 

Qualifications

·       A bachelor’s degree in a non-professional field (master’s degree preferred);

·       At least 3-5 years of regular, full-time employment in a demanding professional environment;

·       A strong understanding of and commitment to AHS’s mission and principles and an interest in U.S. foreign policy and national security. Being an AHS alumnus is a plus;

·       Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain professional relations with faculty, students, and key network interlocutors;

·       Phenomenal organizational skills, attention to logistical details, and the ability to manage a substantial number of projects and contacts at once;

·       Ability to attend occasional local chapter and alumni evening events;

·       A comfort level with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint.
